Not much shocks me about MIND but this latest stunt does. I’m not sure why I’m shocked as many previous posts have shown how this toxic mental health charity will go to extraordinary lengths to dupe an unsuspecting public to part with their hard earned cash to support Paul Farmer‘s growing empire which now has an annual income of £56million and a headcount of 694 staff ( 380 of them spread between head office and its Cardiff satelite operation – MIND Cymru). What do they all do given that National MIND/Mind Cymru provide NO front facing services to provide mental health support in communities? It’s staggering and a matter of public interest.

In my opinion as a former employee to use the coronavirus crisis and public fear of the epidemic to extract yet more cash is nothing short of sick! Yes CEO Paul Farmer’s chain of charity shops may be temporarily closed and MIND’s favourite hikes and marathon races off limits but pretty sure MIND will cope. Farmer on his £125k a year salary and his 7 foot soldiers , collectively running up a wage bill of around £1 million a year, won’t be taking a temporary cut in wages that’s for sure . Many small local MIND groups operate on an annual budget less than Farmer earns and that includes wages to provide mental health services to people in need. Some are now having to temporarily shut their doors, suspend support groups and even lay off staff.
Tens of thousands of people on MIND’s support database will have received this impassioned plea from Farmer in the past few days:-
It reads like one of those pleas for cash following a disaster from famine or flood when people are left with nothing. Remember none of this money goes to the local Minds which DO support people. Farmer makes no reference to their work whatsoever in his monologue which speaks volumes. He says ‘ This is a mental health emergency – and we need your help now‘ Really? To pay for what ?? All he can offer is campaigning and his discredited outsourced Infoline in a call centre in the South Wales Valleys described by one former employee as a ‘Victorian Woorkhouse’ MANAGEMENT MOCK SUICIDAL CALLERS AT MIND INFOLINE – LATEST SHOCK ALLEGATIONS

As a commentator stated ‘Farmer’s latest attempt to get more money for his not fit for purpose empire is no better than a back street trader charging £30 for hand sanitizer at this time of national crisis. In fact it’s far worse as at least the sanitizer is useful!’

END THE CULTURE OF BULLYING & ABUSE IN THE WORKPLACE 
Appears Mind are cynically using Coronavirus to get money. They don’t provide services. Legitimate question is where is money going? They are not dishing it out to the 128 local Mind groups who do provide services. They have just been allocated 5 million by Boris to distribute to mental health charities in Coronavirus crisis. No guidelines or eligibility criteria on their website.128 local groups would get 40k each if split. Where is the transparency? Who will ensure they don’t pocket a hefty sum for themselves.

O ‘Leary and Moseley do not use their platform to request equality for all. They bow to Gething (they should be challenging him) and talk about a car park. Says it all.

I have said this before on a previous post but I recall visiting the Director of a large LMA in S Wales with Susanne Underwood. He told us that ‘Mind Cymru need us more than we need them’ He was right as Moseley very soon realised hence the steps taken to increase the control by and dependency on Mind Cymru whichbhas justified her trembling her empire at considerable public cost. And most local Minds have allowed this to happen. Those that challenged have been bullied out
